Sizing Information
We tried a size Medium and an XL on our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey. Those are sizes they usually wear in an “American” cut jacket. This jacket from REV’IT! fits well enough and it looks sharp, but there is very minimal room left. Many brands from Europe exhibit a fit like this, such as Alpinestars. If you look at REV’IT!’s published size chart (below), you’ll see their estimate of chest size is at least a full size smaller than what you’d find in equivalent US designed clothing.
We measured each jacket and tried them on and we’ve concluded that the fit is just about one-half size smaller than what you would find in ordinary US men’s clothing. The amount the jackets are undersized is not as severe as REV’IT!’s size chart would have you believe. For most people, this means you’ll be able to buy the size you normally wear if you want a snug, European style fit. If you want a looser American fit, or if you are between sizes, choose one size larger.
Below is the REV’IT!-published chest size for each jacket’s alpha size along with our estimate of max chest and max waist/belly. This particular style is a sport/street style so there is only a moderate taper from chest to waist, and with a style like this you can effectively tailor the fit of the waist with the side waist adjusters, which makes the jacket look great and fit great, so don’t worry if your waist/belly is smaller than the max. We only list this for those that have a belly so they can know what minimum size they’d have to choose to fit the belly.
Note: Add about 1” to your chest and belly measurements if you plan to add a back protector. Add an additional 1” inch to your chest if you will add the chest protectors.

Our Two Cents
The Tornado 3 jacket by REVIT is all new for 2020. The third revision of this jacket is the most recent update and the version 2 was introduced in 2016. The Tornado is an excellent all-purpose street jacket for hot weather primarily, but the jacket is equipped with a waterproof and insulated liner for cooler and/or wet weather.
I’ve looked this new version over pretty thoroughly and this version 3 has only one or two minor design changes: 1) the collar now has a double sided snap at the neck rather than a hook and loop to hold the collar tab open; 2) the reflective stripes on the sleeves now have a new fancy REVIT logo embossed on them; 3) the removable liner is now a new soft touch material (looks kind of like rubber/leather), rather than slick nylon.
The Tornado 3 is a mostly mesh shell jacket with a removable liner. So with the liner removed, it’s a great style for hot weather. The wind should blow right through. But in cooler weather or wet weather, you can put the liner in for warmth and to keep dry. The liner insert doubles as a casual jacket in itself too. So if you are traveling, the liner can serve a purpose off the bike, which will save you some packing space (see our close up pictures to see the liner as a jacket). One point to make… MOST mesh jackets come with a liner, but they are strictly wind/rain liners, but the liner here is lightly insulated as well, which should make the jacket with liner more comfortable in lower temps. Hopefully you won’t be caught in a rain when it’s really hot… that would be the only circumstance when the insulation in the liner would be a bummer. Probably an unlikely scenario.
Armor inserts are included for the shoulders and elbows as standard. It’s REVIT’s CE Level 2 stuff which is about as good as it gets. The armor is a firm rubber compound and it is molded in a honeycomb pattern which allows plenty of air flow. The back protector is optional. The jacket is equipped with a pocket to accept a Seesoft CE Level 2 Back Protector Insert type RV (RV refers to the shape). Take the link below to order. For sizes Small or Medium, choose size 4; for Large thru XXL, choose size 5 and for XXXL and larger choose size 6. Another protective option is the addition of front chest protectors. Those are “one size fits all” and the two pieces fit inside pockets built into the lining of the front chest area.
I’ve included a link below to the matching Tornado 3 pants. The pants have a similar feature list to the jacket and will work well for the same environments. Not everybody gets the full outfit, so if you just wear jeans, consider connecting the jacket to your favorite jeans with REVIT’s Safeway belt (take the link below). The Tornado jackets and pants continue to be great multi-season riding apparel just about any rider can love! :: Paul, 02-03-20
REVIT says: The REV’IT! Tornado 3 jacket has all the features you need for your next tour in the spring, summer or autumn: ventilation, waterproofing, and the highest level of protection. Not to mention style. On colder mornings or during bad weather, the breathable and stretchable hydratex®|Lite 2-in-1 liner will keep the rider dry and comfortable. This detachable liner also works well as a separate jacket. When the temperature starts to rise, the liner can easily be removed to allow cool air to flow through the jacket. The 3D air mesh panels around the shoulders and the PWR|shell mesh on the front, back, and arms will keep the rider comfortable and fresh. The jacket features our award-winning CE-level 2 SEEFLEX™ armor at the shoulder and elbows, and the Tornado 3 can further be fortified with our SEESOFT™ CE-level 1 divided chest protectors and SEESOFT™ CE-level 2 back protector. Various adjustment tabs and straps will ensure a perfect fit for the rider.
